Therapeutic Approach

I provide individual adult (18 and older) counseling for perinatal mental health and highly sensitive and/or empathic persons, mindfulness and self-compassion group therapy, and clinical supervision.

My approach to counseling is supportive, collaborative, holistic, and client-centered. I utilize Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Mindfulness Self-Compassion (MSC) techniques to support your goals. Mindfulness involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future. The research on mindfulness has shown it is useful in treating anxiety and depression. These approaches are based on the belief that our thoughts, emotions, and actions are connected with in our mind and body. I have found that integrating therapeutic techniques offers the client a holistic way of exploring, understanding, and ultimately altering or coping with discomfort. I view my therapeutic approach as an equal partnership with my clients. By working together, clients can discover deeper understanding in life and find their healthy and authentic self.

I will support your goals and aspirations; while holding space for you to trust your own instincts and knowledge. I will work to amplify your successes, assist you in further developing your skills , increasing your awareness and self-confidence. This work enables potential for future change and inner peace. I work to understand your perspective through non-judgmental and empathetic listening. I want to hear your experiences and thoughts as a way to identify what might be driving you to think and act in ways that do not support your goals, your growth or your health. I look forward to walking with you on your journey.
